Reverend Cooper McWhirter
Senior Pastor of Grace Community Church
Reverend McWhirter was called to Grace Community Church in March of 2001. Previously he served as the executive Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, Aurora, Colorado.
Pastor Cooper earned his Masters of Divinity Degree from Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in May of 1991. He received his undergraduate degree from Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri. For twenty-five years he worked in a family commercial printing business in Kansas City, Missouri and served as its president and principal owner for nine of those years.
Pastor Cooper was ordained as a Ruling Elder in the EPC in the fall of 1992. In this capacity, Cooper served as the Moderator of the Presbytery of the East in 1994. Cooper was later ordained as a Minister of the Word in the spring of 1996. In this capacity Cooper served as the Moderator of the Presbytery of the West in 1999. Pastor McWhirter has also served on two Permanent Committees of the EPC: the Nominating Committee (2004-2006) and served as its chairman in 2006. He also served on the Theology Committee (2008-2013), serving as its chairman in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
His wife, Sammie, has for years been very active in the EPC Women's Ministries in two presbyteries, in several local churches as well as serving two terms on the EPC Women's Ministries national board. The McWhirter's have two married daughters: Anna Catherine Chatman and Margaret Mary Moberly. They are also blessed to have four grandaughters: Abigail Grace Chatman, Elisabeth Joy Chatman, Meredith Hope Chatman and Caroline Lee Moberly; and two grandsons: Joshua Bennett Chatman and William Cooper Moberly.
